Just a few more things to put back on and then it will be time to pack the engine in the truck and haul it over to Paine Field for installation back onto the plane.
The masking was removed from the flywheel.
An easy way to keep the paint out of the groove for the alternator belt was to put a piece of old belt in the groove for painting. The belt was cut just to reach all the way around and the ends safety wired together.
The spark plugs had been cleaned, clearances checked and new copper gaskets placed.
I placed a little lubricant on the threads of each plug.
The plugs were put back into their respective cylinders and left loose so they could be removed after installation back on the plane. This would allow the engine to be timed and then cranked over with the starter to distribute oil back into the galleys and hoses before the first start.
The vacuum pump and fuel pump were installed.
The newly rebuilt fuel flow divider that channels fuel to the injectors was put back on.
The rebuilt propeller governor was installed and torqued.
The alternator and starter where bolted back on.
At this point the engine was pretty much ready to go short of some fittings, baffling, mags and wiring harness.
I went back over to the hangar at Paine Field and got things set up for the big day. I cleaned off the belly of any oil so if we did have an oil leak it would be easy to detect.
The paint has held up very well.
